Public Relations
Projects
While enrolling in the Critical Issues in Public Relations course, I undertook two projects that focused on prevalent social justice issues in America - the Crown Act and access to clean water.
The first project involved developing a presentation to raise awareness about the Crown Act, which aims to eliminate discrimination against natural hairstyles.
The second project centered on promoting access to clean water for individuals and communities in America who have struggled with this issue. I created a social justice ad to encapsulate this.
Both of these projects were essential in highlighting important social justice issues that have affected numerous individuals and communities across the country. As public relations professionals, we must use our skills to promote positive change and advocate for those whose voices are often not heard.
House Passes Crown Act Case Study
This is a group project case study conducted on the Crown Act and its impact on society.
The Crown Act seeks to eliminate discriminatory laws and practices that target natural hairstyles. This form of discrimination has been a pervasive issue in Black and Brown communities for an extended period, and there is a growing call for it to end.
Despite the fact that several states have yet to adopt this legislation to prohibit discrimination against Black hairstyles, the bill is steadily gaining momentum.
Social Justice Advertisement
The objective of this project is to shed light on the pervasive injustice that countless individuals in America are facing due to the unavailability of clean water. Regions such as Jackson, Mississippi, and Flint, Michigan, have been grappling with ongoing problems related to contaminated water, and this advertisement aims to raise awareness about these critical issues.
Access to clean water is a basic human right, and it is crucial that steps are taken to address and resolve this problem, not only in America but also in other parts of the world.
